The Odyssey — Our Interpretation

What if we were asked to bring The Odyssey to the screen? We approached the story like the early development of a feature film — imagining the cast, characters, costumes, locations and visual world we would build around one of history’s most enduring journeys.

PROJECT HEADLINE
If We Made The Odyssey
PROJECT TEXT
For this project, we treated The Odyssey as if a film were about to enter development.
Who would Odysseus be? What would Penelope look and feel like after years of waiting? How should Telemachos, Circe, Kalypso, Athena, Polyphemus and the Sirens inhabit the same cinematic universe?
We developed our own visual interpretation of the characters, environments, costumes and atmosphere — not as isolated images, but as pieces of one imagined production.
The goal was to explore the decisions that happen before a camera ever starts rolling: casting direction, character identity, production design, locations, lighting and the overall visual language of the film.
At the centre of it all remains the same deeply human story: a man trying to return home, losing almost everything along the way and coming back changed.
This is how we would begin building The Odyssey for the screen.
